Reimagining the Future: India and GCC Join Forces to Transform Higher Education

The landscape of global education is shifting. As we look toward a future defined by sustainability and digital transformation, the Centre for West Asian Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia is proud to announce a landmark event: the International Conference on Reimagining Higher Education for Sustainability: Quality and Innovative Financing Practices in India and The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries.

Scheduled for 23rd–24th July 2026, this conference serves as a critical bridge between two of the world’s most dynamic educational ecosystems.

Why This Conference Matters Now

In an era of shrinking public budgets and rapid technological shifts, traditional education models are being pushed to their limits. India, home to the world’s second-largest higher education system, and the GCC nations—including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar—share a common goal: building knowledge-based economies that are both high-quality and financially resilient.

Key Challenges We’re Addressing:

  • Funding Gaps: Moving beyond state reliance toward innovative models like Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and research commercialization.

  • Quality Assurance: Aligning institutional standards with global benchmarks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • Digital Integration: Leveraging EdTech to improve cost-efficiency without compromising the student experience.

Call for Papers: Shape the Global Dialogue

We are inviting scholars, researchers, and academic leaders to contribute their insights to this interdisciplinary platform. This is your opportunity to influence policy and institutional strategies for two vital regions.

Core Themes Include:

  • Innovative Financing: Philanthropic models, income-contingent loans, and alternative revenue streams.

  • Policy & Regulation: The evolution of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in India vs. GCC's "Vision" agendas.

  • Sustainability & Green Campuses: Integrating environmental responsibility into curricula and infrastructure.

  • Cross-Border Collaboration: Strengthening research networks between India and the Gulf.
