Reimagining the Future: India and GCC Join Forces to Transform Higher Education

Reimagining the Future: India and GCC Join Forces to Transform Higher Education

The landscape of global education is shifting. As we look toward a future defined by sustainability and digital transformation, the Centre for West Asian Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia is proud to announce a landmark event: the International Conference on Reimagining Higher Education for Sustainability: Quality and Innovative Financing Practices in India and The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries.

Scheduled for 23rd–24th July 2026, this conference serves as a critical bridge between two of the world’s most dynamic educational ecosystems.

Why This Conference Matters Now

In an era of shrinking public budgets and rapid technological shifts, traditional education models are being pushed to their limits. India, home to the world’s second-largest higher education system, and the GCC nations—including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar—share a common goal: building knowledge-based economies that are both high-quality and financially resilient.

Key Challenges We’re Addressing:

  • Funding Gaps: Moving beyond state reliance toward innovative models like Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and research commercialization.

  • Quality Assurance: Aligning institutional standards with global benchmarks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • Digital Integration: Leveraging EdTech to improve cost-efficiency without compromising the student experience.

Call for Papers: Shape the Global Dialogue

We are inviting scholars, researchers, and academic leaders to contribute their insights to this interdisciplinary platform. This is your opportunity to influence policy and institutional strategies for two vital regions.

Core Themes Include:

  • Innovative Financing: Philanthropic models, income-contingent loans, and alternative revenue streams.

  • Policy & Regulation: The evolution of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in India vs. GCC's "Vision" agendas.

  • Sustainability & Green Campuses: Integrating environmental responsibility into curricula and infrastructure.

  • Cross-Border Collaboration: Strengthening research networks between India and the Gulf.

Join the "Plural Pasts, Shared Futures" International Conference

The Department of English at Osmania University, in collaboration with the University of Western Australia (UWA) and the Association for the Study of Australasia in Asia (ASAA), is hosting a three-day international conference. The event, titled "Plural Pasts, Shared Futures: Global Literary Interconnections," will be held from November 25 to 27, 2025.

The conference's theme, "Plural Pasts, Shared Futures," focuses on how literature can help us understand diverse cultural experiences and historical narratives. The event aims to explore the complex relationships between literary traditions across time and space, emphasizing the multiplicity of historical experiences and the potential for collective imagination. The conference hopes to advance the study of how literature, shaped by colonial legacies, diasporic movements, and digital globalization, functions beyond the confines of a single nation. It will explore topics such as the dialogue between indigenous and postcolonial narratives, the role of translation, and the emergence of transnational themes like migration and climate change.

Key Details and Themes
