Join the Global Dialogue: 3rd International Conference on Decolonisation

The Department of English at Université Numérique Cheikh Hamidou Kane (Senegal), in collaboration with the World Association of Authors and Researchers (WAAR), is proud to announce the 3rd International Conference on Decolonisation through Language and Literature.

Taking place on July 25-26, 2026, this landmark event will be held in a fully online mode, bridging the gap between scholars in Africa, India, and across the globe.

Why Decolonisation?

Colonialism was never just about territory; it was a fundamental linguistic and epistemic project. It reshaped societies through language hierarchies, racialized knowledge systems, and institutionalized education. To truly decolonize is to address the very structures of knowledge that continue to shape our modern world.

This conference serves as a platform to explore:

  • Language as a colonial legacy and a site of struggle.

  • Literature as a counter-archive to Eurocentric narratives.

  • Curriculum reform that dismantles imperial frameworks.

Key Themes & Domains

We welcome original submissions across six diverse domains:

DomainFocus Area
I: The Literary Canon

Challenging Eurocentric standards and reclaiming indigenous storytelling.

II: Linguistic Justice

Analyzing linguistic imperialism and promoting multilingualism.

III: Translation

Using translation to break the "epistemicide" of colonial powers.

IV: Decolonial Pedagogies
