Call for Papers: Exploring Gender Fluidity and Representation in Postmodern Cinema

Call for Papers: Exploring Gender Fluidity and Representation in Postmodern Cinema

Introduction

Cinema, as a cultural medium, continues to play a transformative role in shaping and reflecting our understanding of gender, identity, and power. In the age of postmodern storytelling, gender representation has evolved from rigid binaries to dynamic, fluid interpretations. Recognizing this shift, an upcoming academic volume invites papers for the book titled:

“Femininity and Masculinity in Flux: Rethinking Fluidity, Gaze, and Gender Representation in Postmodern Cinema.”

Scholars, critics, and cinephiles are encouraged to submit original research that interrogates cinematic portrayals of gender, gaze, and identity in contemporary and postmodern film culture.

Why This Theme Is Timely and Important

In today’s world, where gender norms are being questioned and redrawn, cinema has become both a mirror and a medium of resistance. This volume seeks to unpack how film – across regions, languages, and platforms – reimagines femininity, masculinity, and everything in between.

By embracing postfeminism, queerness, cyborg identities, and digital fandoms, the book aims to push the boundaries of traditional film studies and open up conversations on body politics, representation, and cinematic aesthetics.
