The landscape of English Language Education (ELE) is undergoing a seismic shift. As Gen Z and Generation Alpha fill our classrooms—bringing with them an innate fluency in digital ecosystems and AI tools—our pedagogical frameworks must evolve. How do we balance human-centric teaching with machine translation? Where does pedagogy end and heutagogy begin?

To address these exact questions, the AINET Association of English Teachers (an Associate of IATEFL, UK), supported by the British Council, India and RELO, US Mission, India, has officially announced the 10th AINET International Conference.

Taking place online from 9–10 January 2027, the conference centers on a timely, forward-looking theme: "English Language Education for Gen Z, Alpha & Beyond." Whether you are an ELT practitioner, an applied linguistics researcher, or a postgraduate scholar, this virtual gathering offers a premier platform for academic and creative expression.

Conference Sub-Themes: Where is ELE Headed?

AINET is currently inviting presentation proposals that explore the intersections of learner identity, technology, and future-ready pedagogy. Proposals are welcome across the following sub-themes (as well as other innovative areas relevant to ELE):

  • Profiling Next Generation Learners: Understanding the cognitive, social, and digital habits of Gen Z and Alpha.

  • Teaching For and To the Future: Designing curricula that outlast rapid technological shifts.

  • Pedagogy, Andragogy, Heutagogy and Beyond: Moving toward self-determined, autonomous learning models.

  • Exploring the Future in History: Drawing lessons from historical ELT methodologies to inform tomorrow's classrooms.

  • Multilingual Pedagogy: Examining its relevance in an increasingly machine-translating world.

  • Teacher Technologies & Learner Technologies: Bridging the gap ("How the Twain Shall Meet?").

  • AI As a Co-Teacher: Practical and ethical frameworks for integrating generative AI into language instruction.

Presentation Formats & Publication Opportunity

Because the conference is hosted entirely online, presenters have three distinct ways to share their work:

  1. Paper Presentations (Live): 15-minute live sessions (including Q&A and audience interaction) during the main conference schedule.

  2. Video Presentations (Pre-recorded): Maximum 4-minute video presentations hosted on the conference website throughout the event, with asynchronous interaction via the comments section.

  3. Poster Presentations (Digital): High-resolution JPEG or PNG posters displayed on the conference portal for continuous viewing and comment-thread discussions.

Publication Note: All submitted proposals undergo editorial review. Selected academic presentations from the conference proceedings will lead to an ISBN publication, and presenters will be contacted separately post-conference regarding full-paper submissions.
