Understanding the Trauma: Revisiting the Partition
(10-11 February, 2015) 


Paper presentation:

 Papers, conforming to MLA style, are invited. The following could be some of the
areas of the source texts:
(1) The partition literature (fiction, drama, poetry) in English, or in any other Indian language
(translated or not translated into English)
(2) Films based on, or referring significantly to the partition, in English or in any other Indian
language
(3) Autobiography, biography, interviews, travel literature and other interdisciplinary
documents related to the partition.
 With reference to the above source texts, the issues like gender, nation, history,
memory and desire, class and caste, the discourse of secularism and communalism, narrative
strategies, films and literature could be addressed in a research paper. Interdisciplinary
research papers in the area of the partition are also invited.


Participation/ Submission of Paper:

 Participation and/ or presentation of paper in this seminar are invited. Papers
submitted should conform to MLA style as selected papers presented at the seminar will be
published in a book. You are requested to note the following and communicate to
engvnsgu@gmail.com:
*Intimation of participation only (without the presentation of a paper) with institutional
address and contact number by email latest by 20 January, 2015.
*In the case of paper presentation, its abstract (in about 250 words) along with the sender’s
institutional address and contact number should be sent latest by 20 January, 2015, and the
completed paper conforming to MLA style should be sent latest by 05 February, 2015, as an
email attachment.
*Accommodation for the outstation participants will be available in University Guest house
from 09 February, 2015, to 12 February, 2015 on first come first serve basis. Your travel
plan is requested in advance by email.

Registration fees:

Rs. 1500/- (for the participants without the accommodation offered)
Rs. 2000/- (for the participants with the accommodation offered)
The payment of the registration fees will be on the spot at the seminar venue.
*Venue of the seminar: Seminar Hall, Department of Computer Science, Veer Narmad
South Gujarat University Campus, Surat
*Registration time: 8-00 a.m. to 9-30 a.m. on 10 February, 2015
*Inaugural Session will begin at 10-00 a.m. on 10 February, 2015.
*Valedictory Session will be over by 04-00 p.m. on 11 February, 2015.
