Call for Chapters: Travel by Cinema: From Screen to Scene
Are you a researcher or academic interested in the intersection of film and tourism? A new edited volume is seeking chapter submissions for a book titled "Travel by Cinema: From Screen to Scene". This book will explore the cultural, economic, and experiential dimensions of how cinema transforms real-world locations into global travel destinations.
The book, which will be published by Wiley and Elsevier Scopus, will cover a range of themes related to film tourism. The main focus is on how movies influence travel, and submissions are invited on a variety of topics, including:
Theoretical Frameworks in Film Tourism: This includes concepts like place-making, cinematic imagination, and narrative transport.
Cinematic Landscapes and Destination Branding: How films shape the image of a destination and how popular culture is used for place branding.
Fan Pilgrimage and Experiential Tourism: The motivations and behaviors of film tourists, including fan pilgrimages to iconic cinematic sites like those from Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings.
Film Locations as Living Heritage and Cultural Assets: The preservation and commodification of film locations, and the tensions between tourism and local culture.
Policy and Governance: The role of government and the private sector in supporting film production and tourism.
Technological Shifts: The impact of virtual and augmented reality, social media, and online fan communities on film tourism.
Case Studies: This covers a range of case studies based on genre, geography (Asia, Europe, Americas, Africa, Oceania), and the dynamics of urban vs. rural tourism.
Ethical and Sustainability Issues: Addressing concerns like over-tourism and responsible storytelling and visitor management.
