We cordially invite you to explore the NEP (2020) and Translanguaging through an interdisciplinary and multilingual interaction.

About the Conference

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has reimagined the landscape of Indian education by emphasising interdisciplinary learning, encouraging multilingualism and a stronger engagement with Indian knowledge systems. As institutions across the country prepare for this transformation, translanguaging emerges as a powerful pedagogical tool to create equitable, engaging, and culturally resonant learning environments. Within this vision, translanguaging - the fluid movement between languages offers not just a method of communication, but a critical and inclusive pedagogical strategy. In multilingual classrooms, it validates the lived linguistic experiences of learners, promotes inclusivity, and enhances engagement by integrating home languages with the language of instruction. In the context of NEP 2020, translanguaging becomes an essential methodology that recognises the interdependence of languages in meaning-making. Moving beyond the framing of English as merely a ‘soft skill,’ this conference seeks to reconceptualise language and literature education by transcending narrow definitions of utility and employability through the lens of translanguaging. It invites conversations that position English as a dynamic cultural space, engaging with regional literatures, cultural studies, translation practices, and digital pedagogy.

Sub-Themes

Participants are invited to engage with the following key areas: ● Case Studies in Multilingual Pedagogy ● Digital Interfaces and Language ● Literature in Translation ● Designing Inclusive Syllabi - Indian Literary Texts in English Classrooms ● Classroom Reflections from Educators - Challenges and Opportunities of Translanguaging

πŸ“© Call for Participation

Research papers focusing on sub-themes of the conference are invited from research scholars, teachers, and Teacher Educators in English, Hindi, and Marathi languages. Papers should not exceed the limit of 3000 words with an abstract of 200-300 words. The paper should be original and unpublished. A soft copy of the abstract must be emailed to translanguaging2025@gmail.com by Saturday, July 05th, 2025. Authors of abstracts selected for presentation will be informed by Friday, July 11th, 2025. Guidelines for Paper: English- Font: Times New Roman, Title: 14 Bold. Subpoints – 12 Bold, Text 12, Line Spacing: 1.5" Hindi-Font: Unicode Title: 14 Bold. Subpoints – 12 Bold, Text 12, Line Spacing: 1.5" Marathi-Font: Unicode Title: 14 Bold. Subpoints – 12 Bold, Text 12, Line Spacing: 1.5" Outcomes Anticipated

● Frameworks and case studies for implementing translanguaging

● Collaborative networks across institutions

 ● Policy suggestions and curriculum recommendations

● Dissemination of proceedings and best practices

We invite you to join this timely and meaningful conversation on the enriching power of literature and language, as well as the potential of inclusive, multilingual classrooms.
