We cordially invite you to explore the NEP (2020) and Translanguaging through an interdisciplinary and multilingual interaction.

About the Conference

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has reimagined the landscape of Indian education by emphasising interdisciplinary learning, encouraging multilingualism and a stronger engagement with Indian knowledge systems. As institutions across the country prepare for this transformation, translanguaging emerges as a powerful pedagogical tool to create equitable, engaging, and culturally resonant learning environments. Within this vision, translanguaging - the fluid movement between languages offers not just a method of communication, but a critical and inclusive pedagogical strategy. In multilingual classrooms, it validates the lived linguistic experiences of learners, promotes inclusivity, and enhances engagement by integrating home languages with the language of instruction. In the context of NEP 2020, translanguaging becomes an essential methodology that recognises the interdependence of languages in meaning-making. Moving beyond the framing of English as merely a ‘soft skill,’ this conference seeks to reconceptualise language and literature education by transcending narrow definitions of utility and employability through the lens of translanguaging. It invites conversations that position English as a dynamic cultural space, engaging with regional literatures, cultural studies, translation practices, and digital pedagogy.
