Many post-graduates and teachers have registered themselves for Ph. D. Course in the discipline of English. They aspire to gain sufficient knowledge and guidance on how their research could be reasonably logical and could be successfully completed within the time limit. To fulfil the dreams of these researchers and to make them completely conversant with research methodology, specifically, the applied components of research such as the application of theory and writing a dissertation or thesis in an essentially logical and sequential manner, Higher Education and Research Society is calling upon stalwarts from across the country to impart and to sharpen such practical skills of researchers through this National Workshop.

It aims at promoting academic research and scholarship into English literatures, reading and related fields. It also attempts to facilitate co-operation between researchers in different parts of the country and in different branches of learning. It plays as a catalyst to enable researchers in different regions and disciplines to exchange information, share discussion of professional and theoretical issues, and initiate and co-ordinate research.
Higher Education and Research Society is organizing this National Workshop on Research in English Language and Literature to bring within the easy reach of researchers what they might have missed during their research process. Bearing in mind the aims of the Society and the present scenario of research in literature, the workshop is intended to achieve the following objectives.
• To share hands-on experience of research in English literature and language with researchers.
• To understand how to use various techniques and methods of research.
• To provide guidance as to how to swift through the collected data and organize it.
• To provide practical instructions and to discuss practical difficulties regarding writing a thesis or dissertation without the stigma of plagiarism.
• To extend an opportunity to researchers to obtain tips on the application of theory, data collection, research writing skills in respect of their ongoing/proposed research projects.
• To get done some work from the research participants on the practical difficulties of research.
